January Movie PTW
Using my movies boardgame.
I completed 4/5 movies from my last challenge, I liked 3 of them and decided to remove 1 from my PTW.
Avatar:
Animation
Skill: Reroll dice once
Roll #1
A 9, prompt: fantasy creatures. I feel like I saw this as a kid but can't be sure: The Princess and the Goblin.
Roll #2
A 4 and 'generate from PTW list' tile. A 96, so...oh boy, it's The Strangers: Prey at Night. Hard not to remember how the first one ended. We'll see how I do.
Roll #3
A 10, prompt: highest rated on PTW. I removed Psycho which was at the top, just don't think I'd enjoy it. 🤷 The next on the list at 4.2 is One Battle After Another.
Roll #4
A 6 and I'm trying for a higher number with my skill. A 9! Prompt: mystery element. Departing Seniors,
Roll #5
A 3, prompt: thriller. Down.
Roll #6
A 5 and the end. No reward this time because that's the mood.
Movie PTW List:
[Animation/Fantasy] The Princess and the Goblin
[Horror/Thriller] The Strangers: Prey at Night
[Action/Thriller] One Battle After Another
[Mystery/Horror] Departing Seniors
[Mystery/Thriller/Horror] Down

New Year's Resolutions Check In
We made it through the second week of January. This is enough to get a better grasp of progress with New Year's resolutions. It's also into the period of rapid die-off. We have reached the second Friday in January, also known as Quitter's Day because so many people give up their New Year's resolutions then. Watch for the parallel check in post over on
goals_on_dw.
Feel free to copy the idea of a New Year's resolution check-in to your blog or other venue, to encourage yourself and your friends. Many people find that social support helps maintain resolutions. This is one area where online activity works as well as or better than facetime activity. Apps work too, with trackers for most popular goal categories. Consider the pros and cons of getting your friends to help. Here on Dreamwidth we have
awesomeers and
do_it that may prove helpful for social support of goals. Some craft communities like
get_knitted and
justcreate also have check-in posts.
According to an email from Facebook, the survey found that those who shared their New Year's resolution on Facebook were 36 percent more likely to stick to it. Additionally, 52 percent of those surveyed agreed that sharing their resolutions with others is helpful when it comes to accomplishing them. In my experience, saying (or posting) things out loud definitely makes them feel more real. Plus, if other people know about a goal you're trying to achieve, it may motivate you to keep working at it so you can provide future updates on your progress.

🎬Movies Check-in
Beyond Loch Ness ('08): It was better than I thought, there was definitely a level of ridiculousness still and a little spotty acting but I think I'll watch it again to catch what I didn't (there were no subs and I didn't feel like putting my headphones in). Also, the girl and her shitty boyfriend were the cliches cliche to ever cliche in these type of movies. I was surprised to see Beckett and Hammond's actors from Stargate and Leo's actor from Charmed in here!
Flight of the Living Dead ('07): Another that was better than expected, I felt like it had distinct characters even if some of them were terrible. Would rewatch.
The Little Mermaid ('24): Man falls in love with woman, almost destroys the world. Kinda lost interest a ways in and skimmed.
Dust Bunny ('25): The plot takes a while to start going anywhere but I got invested around 30 minutes in. I enjoyed the twist and turns it took. I was glad for the post-credits scene though I wonder how she's going to explain everything. 😅 4/5 stars
I took a look at Trunk - Locked in and decided not to watch it.

Manga Check-in: "Mairimashita! Iruma-kun" v21ch184-185

Chapter 184 (reread): Amelie looks so gorgeous on the cover!!
So Iruma just had his birthday and told Asmo and Clara about wanting to keep getting stronger, and now Iruma and Lied have to fulfill their promise to do something for Crocell since she helped them before. And that thing is performing on stage with her at the Evidoll Festival. Oh, and she told Lied that she's Kuromu. He still fanboyed out even knowing who they really are. XD
Since it seems men can't be Evidolls, does that mean there are no boy idols or groups? That'd be too weird.
Lied is a fan of the Evidoll Gyari so he agrees to help to meet her, but Gyari wants to crush Kuromu. I can't believe I'm using this phrase but she's very 'lesbian-coded'.
Chapter 185 (reread):

Aww these two are so cute!
Crocell's little sis Chima came to cheer them on. :')
Gyari: "Retire from being an Evidol...and just marry me ♡!!"
Ooh okay she's straight up lesbian, I knew there was a scene that left an impression on me and this was it. X'D
Gyari says 'gender doesn't matter to demons' but apparently it's still not totally accepted, judging by Lied's surprise that she wants to marry another girl.
I'd say Gyari is a girl incel but Gyari has actual 'bitches' hanging on her every move and she seduced Merun to her side. ...WAIT, she's exactly like Gaston!!!
