Okay, it’s been a while since I finished the Killing Game route (and I’m currently going thru' the Casual route), so I decided to write down my impressions while they’re still fresh. As usual, spoiler warning.

The Killing Game route is part of the “Killing Eito” branch, and the basic premise is essentially: “What if Darumi’s Killing Game fantasy actually became real?” So you can pretty much guess what kind of story this is and yes, there are multiple character deaths.

That said, despite the heavy “despair” tone, this route surprisingly has a lot of cozy moments, lol. One of the biggest highlights here is Yugamu and Darumi. Yugamu’s interactions with Takumi are really fun, and I kinda get Sumikage / Yugakumi fujos now. Their dynamic is funny, but they also weirdly mesh well together. This route also gives Darumi more depth and makes you see her obsession with the killing game in a different light.

Also we get to see a different side of Hiruko that's not just cold-hearted woman, nice.

The funniest shit in this route is how the game constantly tries to guilt-trip you over how much of a mistake it was to kill Eito, LMAOOOO. It’s genuinely hilarious watching Takumi get roasted nonstop.

even Sponsor call out Takumi for being cheap guy wwww

One of the main pairings in this route is Takumi xTsubasa. I’m honestly pretty indifferent toward it, but I did like it because we finally get to see Takumi not being a total Nozomi simp—he’s capable of liking another woman, and for once he treats Nozomi as her own person instead of just not!Karua. btw Takumi sure is fucking cheap guy....like bro you literally rewind time for Nozomi & head kneels for Nozomi now being fawned to Tsubasa just because she was nice to you....

Speaking of Nozomi, it’s kinda funny how this route basically gave me Nozomi x Eva yuri—literal mommy × daughter yuri—and I fucking ate that shit up. I do think Nozomi’s obsession with Eva can feel childish at times, but it’s also understandable given her extremely complicated relationship with her mother (which is abuser btw, Eva is right). I really hope they explore that side of Nozomi more in other routes.

This route also sheds some light on the true nature of the “Invaders.” Turns out those cutesy mascot mobs we’ve been fighting all this time are actually… Futuran people. Yeah. Fucked up, I know. Dahl’xia is also a pretty interesting guy, and I really hope we get to see more of him in the future!

Now for the criticisms/flaw: we still have no fucking idea why the Killing Game exists in the first place. I was sure Darumi was behind everything, but it turns out she wasn’t? And then suddenly the second sponsor is Eito from another timeline? That shit is absurd, bro. By the end, we still don’t know who the first sponsor is or why the Killing Game even started.

I also feel like the whole Kamyuhn thing was kinda wasted. She could’ve been the key to revealing the true nature of the war, but it’s pretty fucked that she never tells the party the real history. It feels wasted—though I get the sense they did that on purpose to push players toward other routes.

Another thing I really liked about the Killing Game route is that we get to see the characters at their lowest points—their absolute worst, honestly—especially Takemaru, the Tsukumo twins, and to some extent Takumi as well. I really liked that bad ending where Takumi and Tsubasa run away so Tsubasa doesn’t have to die since she’s last-ranked… only for the bee to kill her anyway after all that sweet talk. Like, lol. That’s genuinely fucked up.

I also liked Takumi being considerate toward the ghost boy and bringing him to the artificial satellite.

And I loved Tsubasa’s dream of wanting a big house to live in with Takumi, Yugamu, and Darumi—it sounds so comfy and has strong poly energy. I love it. I honestly want an AU of that.

Overall, the Killing Game route is a decent one, but I do think it’s a bit randumb at times. Still, it’s great if you’re craving that Danganronpa-style mystery with people sticking together in harsh conditions.

I’d rate it 7.2/10.
The KG route is pretty long (unless you get a bad end), but it doesn’t feel overly padded like the prologue and I still managed to finish it in just two days.

Anyway, if you like Yugamu and Darumi, you will definitely love this route.
