I saw some discourse on Japanese Twitter about Umamusume season 3, and here we go again.

My thoughts are that while S3 fumbled in several areas, it still managed to tie things together neatly by the end. The main problem is that S3 tried to be historically accurate while simultaneously contradicting itself. For example, they focused heavily on Kitasan and Diamond, even though Dia-chan shouldn't have been portrayed as Kitasan's rival and close friend. Historically speaking, she should have been more of Kitasan's kouhai.

It also sucks that they didn't focus more on the rivalry between Kitasan, Duramente, and Crown, especially Kitasan and Duramente. The Classic arc should have centered on those two instead.

Then they could have shifted the focus to Kitasan, Crown, and Diamond during their senior year. Personally, I think the story should have ended with Kitasan winning the Haruten. There was no real need to cover every single race afterward since Kitasan was pretty dominant from that point on.

Alternatively, they could have had Kitasan retire because she felt satisfied with her career, rather than using that lame "I'm not at my peak anymore" excuse.

Overall, I also kinda like how Kitasan being flawed character and I think it's nice to see that, adding more depth to her character.

my controversial take: Xenoblade should've tried courting female otaku audiences instead keep chasing the XB2 male otaku who mostly only care to Homuhika / PyMythra.
it's clear this audiences don't care about xenoblade as a series, they're the three houses fans of Xenoblade fandom.
Takahashi should try pander to fujoshi because fujoshi are loyal and care a lot about this series.
they make CP-only/coupling only Xeno event (Xenomenon) that hosted by female fans and most XB3/XBX fanartist are women
he should've realized by now that most 2 audiences don't care about his game

anyway I really, think handora is the kind of game you *shouldn't* marathoning or rushing in, because this game need to be enjoyed without feeling burnout tbh.
glad I took like long break from this game and can enjoy the filler route without the baggage of feeling burnout

【Archive】Xenosaga ODM - Gender

So in Xenosaga ODM (Xenosaga official supplementary material) I found some interesting section in their content, there's apparently "Gender" section where it's basically elaborate the concept of gender within Xenosaga's world. Naturally I am interested & tried to translate it through translation tool!
PS: My translation & text transcribe might not be accurate, so please take it with grain of salt & I would prefer if you didn't use it as reference.

Doing V'ehxness route and I honestly more invested with whatever happened between the commanders.
it is also interesting to learn more about Futuran culture too.
I think this route is refreshing because we barely learn about the commanders beside enemies of the week in Saturday cartoon.
So seeing their personality and their agenda is very intriguing!

Byleistr apperance after 10 years....

So GBF’s main quest just updated and, for the first time in what feels like 2,141,251 years, we finally get Byleistr Arcus’ appearance. Maybe some people don’t know this, but even though I’m not really into GBF anymore, I used to be super into it back around 2016. The reason I’m writing this isn’t because I’m a Byleistr fan or anything, but because he’s directly tied to my absolute favorite character(basically my kamioshi at this point) and he's Loki. Yes, Loki is one of my all-time favorite characters in the entire series. I love him so much that it overrides my contempt for the franchise. Proof? The fact that I still pay attention to the main story (not the events) should be enough of a clue. Loki is the one anchor keeping me tied to this pile of mess of a series.

【Rambling】some stuff about Malos

I'm just doing egosa on JPs twitter and found some interesting interpretation regarding N's sword & Malos:

So basically the one who slay Na'el curse—who, having despaired over humans killing each other, was made into God's proxy—was the Sword of the End (Logos) held by N, right? And this is support Rex's answer when he said that both Pneuma AND Logos would save the world: that Malos, once Amalthus’s Blade, cut himself free from the chains of the past, became a new self, and chose to protect the world together with someone else moving forward.

This is honestly such a good interpretation omg. I feel like maybe Logos (Malos) was being “tested” in Aionios—the collective unconscious of humanity, facing the fear of the future—yet Malos still couldn’t move on from his past. After the lessons he learned in Alrest, he finally understood what his answer was and how to improve himself. He chose to ally with Noah because Noah’s view aligned with his own: that Aionios deserved to be destroyed and humanity should face an uncertain future together.

But then things changed: Noah became N, choosing instead to maintain the status quo. Then Alpha (Ontos) appeared, wanting to erase everything. Rather than fixing anything, Alpha just wanted to “dump” everything and ignore the problems, which is a big no-no. Alpha used Na’el’s hatred of soldiers and war to make her the perfect vassal for his plan. Pneuma and Logos disagreed. Pneuma’s disagreement wasn’t surprising, but Logos’s was, and it’s shown when N gives his power to slay Na’el’s core. Symbolically, that act represents Logos defying Ontos’s plan.

Maybe it’s coincidence, but what if N or Noah unconsciously agreed? Perhaps Malos believed Noah’s revolutionary side was still there, just… not the right time, or not the right version of Noah. This is also shown during the N vs. Noah showdown after the eclipse: when Noah’s Ouroboros form destroys N’s sword, it’s basically symbolic of Malos/Logos giving up on N. Malos doesn’t want to stay trapped in the “endless now” he wants to move forward.

fuck, I am crying, it just makes me excited about the possibility of Malos being in XB4....Takahashi please do not fucking disappoint me

Janni & Orfe Stories Archival Project

Okay guys, I just got all the files for Janni & Orfe’s stories through Hachimi.
So, I’m thinking of dumping all the lines into this blog for archival purposes. I think this might be the biggest project I've ever done, not only will I be uploading their Ikusei (career) stories, but also all their lines from the home screen, support cards, events, and more.

I don’t think I’ll do this for all Umamusu, just for my oshiuma

I’m still unsure whether I should include translations since I’m not that good at Japanese and will probably rely on MTL, friends, etc. But I think the translations might still help folks get the gist of the stories, even if they're a bit half-assed, hahaha.

But hey, I’m doing this for myself and out of pure self-indulgence. I’ll probably ask some of my friends who know Japanese to help proofread, too.

Anyway, I’m super excited!

XB3 isn't the fault of Xenoblade' Future Direction

I find it funny how people blame Xenoblade 3 for introducing the "multiverse" or "alternate universe" concept when Xenoblade 2 was the one that started the whole "different world, connected universe, and alternate universe" thing.

I just saw Xenoblade X's Chapter 13 ending, and somehow, I’m not surprised it went in that direction. It’s bizarre how people say they hate Xenoblade’s direction because of XB3 when XB2 was the one that pressed the button first. Xenoblade 3 is just the result of what XB2 set up. If you dislike how XB3 started making connections, then you should hate what XB2 did too—like introducing Klaus and bringing back the fucking Zohar.

Yes, the Zohar is the reason for this mess. I don’t know why anyone is surprised by the multiverse stuff when the Zohar is right there. The Zohar/Conduit’s existence and if Xenoblade follows Xenosaga’s worldbuilding—the whole Lower Domain situation is basically a recipe for alternate universes. I can’t imagine how anyone thought everything was linear when the Zohar is involved.

Trust me, I don’t usually like multiverse plots, but in Xenoblade’s case (or the Xeno series as a whole), it makes sense because they’ve already established lore that supports it, like, the Zohar’s function, the Upper Domain, multiple Lower Domains, the Collective Unconscious, etc. So I’m not mad if they go that route, especially after XB2 revealed that Alrest is fucking Earth and XB1’s world is just a different dimension.

I feel like people expect Xenoblade to be like Final Fantasy or Fire Emblem, where each entry is completely unrelated. But Xeno has never been like that. Ever since Xenogears and Xenosaga, the series has always been a continuous franchise with a shared universe. It’s basically like Star Wars or Star Trek. Takahashi and Soraya have always wanted their own sci-fi epic games in the vein of Western Sci-Fi.

I’m so glad I played Xenosaga before this discourse started, so I expected XBXDE to connect to the main trilogy. The next Xenoblade will probably be set after XB3 with returning characters (like Malos), so I know what to expect.

At this point, people should accept that Xenoblade isn’t "Nintendo’s Final Fantasy", it’s "Nintendo’s Star Wars Anime RPG."

【Headcanon】Xenoblade #02

Something that's been on my mind....

Thinking about how each Xenoblade entry focuses on one of the Trinities, where the narrative and story revolve around how the Trinity behaves, it feels so much like a reflection of human "fantasies" about "female" and "male" fantasy. It's hard to explain, but take XB2 for example, where the main focus is Pneuma. Pneuma's personalities (Pyra & Mythra) behave a lot like what the "ideal" woman looks like from a male point of view. People often think Pyra and Mythra’s demeanor is for Rex, but I digress — I think there’s some meta-commentary in the story. Their portrayal wasn’t meant to titillate Rex, but rather the player (at least that’s what I think). Pyra and Mythra's personalities follow popular female character archetypes or tropes that are well-liked by male audiences in Japanese media. Pyra being the Yamato Nadeshiko (Ideal Wife), while Mythra is the tsundere, adding moe and cuteness, one of the most popular archetypes in many danseimuke media.

It just makes me think that the Trinity Processors were really designed to appeal to, and incorporate, many tropes that players like. In XB1, Ontos feels like a character designed for both male and female players, like Ontos is a combination of both. Though personally, I feel Alvis was more catered to female audiences, hahaha.

As for Logos, we don’t know yet because we haven’t had a Logos-focused game (and no, XB3 doesn’t count, Logos doesn’t play an active role there). But we can guess that Malos seems designed with male audiences in mind, maybe because his resonator was a man (Amalthus). So in a way, Malos or Logos tailored his personality to appeal to male sensibilities.

Damn, I’m rambling, but I wonder if the Trinity behaves that way based on which human they resonate with? Pneuma resonates with men, and Ontos resonates with both women and men, so their personality and demeanor are tailored to be an idealized version of the gender their ''resonator" represents. Since Logos also resonated with a man, maybe he's also tailored to appeal to males fantasy?

Hmmm... I wonder which gender the XB4 protagonist will be, and who they'll resonate with — Logos, perhaps? Just makes me curious.

Thinking that more or less confirmed Monolith soft pay attention to their fanbase meme and feedback. and Lucky 7 being Fiora is reference of Fiora nickname to not spoiling her identity. makes me wonder if Monolith staff or Takahashi is aware of Metsublade or Malos being menhera boy magnet meme in the community....
would be funny if Malos or Logos latched onto another mentally ill men again for the fourth time LOL.
